SOS Pen Pal Cats
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Reliable volunteers are always needed for the SOS Pen Pal Cat
program. We have many opportunities some that just take a few hours a
week. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. If you can help with
any of our volunteer opportunities, please call Peggy Lynch
804-514-7463. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with the
following:
CAT TAXI
We need volunteers who can help transporting cats and kittens to and
from our shelter in Chesterfield to our vet's office on Patterson
Avenue. We need both week day and Sunday drivers. All cats will be in
carriers and volunteers to not need to handle the cats.
FUND RAISING AND OUTREACH
Help us raise donations and get the word out about spay/neuter, dog
and cat adoption and animal advocacy. Volunteers man our information
booths at festivals, and local events. You would distribute literature,
talk with people about our program and collect monetary donations.
ADOPTIONS:
Volunteer assist with adoption on Sundays from Noon to 3 PM. We will
provide you with training. Volunteers must believe in the importance of
keeping cats indoors, advocate against declawing and be comfortable
saying "no" to potential adopters. There will be times when you will
have to turn down a potential adopter because they would not provide a
suitable home.
FOSTER HOMES:
Volunteers temporarily house cats or kittens until they can be adopted.
This is a great way to have the joy of having kittens or a cat without
the long term commitment of ownership! It helps the cats by giving them
more individual attention and allowing the animal to be socialized in a
home environment.

We look forward to hearing from you!
